The Makerwell is a product of Made Market LLC.

What We Collect

When you sign up, we collect your email address, brand name, and the profile information you choose to provide (name, city, state, bio, social links, photos, category, and booth preferences). When shoppers scan your QR code, we collect the information they submit (name, email, phone, and zip code). We also collect basic usage data like login times and page views to improve the platform.

How We Use It

Your profile information powers your public maker page and helps market organizers understand your booth needs. Shopper data captured via QR codes belongs to you and is used to populate your customer list. We use your email to send transactional messages (login links, system updates) and, with your consent, occasional product updates. We never use your customer data for our own marketing.

SMS Messaging — Consent, Frequency, and How to Opt Out

How SMS opt-in works. If a shopper subscribes to SMS from a maker through The Makerwell — for example, by checking the SMS opt-in box on a maker’s storefront subscribe form — we send one confirmation text to that shopper. The shopper becomes an active subscriber only after they reply YES or START to the confirmation. The exact disclosure text shown next to the opt-in checkbox at the moment of consent is stored in our records as proof of consent.

Message frequency. Frequency varies by maker and program. The maker discloses an estimate at the opt-in point (typically a few messages per month).

Message and data rates may apply. Your mobile carrier may charge for sending and receiving SMS depending on your plan. The Makerwell does not charge shoppers for messages.

How to opt out (STOP) and get help (HELP). Reply STOP to any text from a maker on The Makerwell to unsubscribe from that maker’s SMS. You will receive one confirmation that you have been unsubscribed and you will not receive marketing texts from that maker again. Reply HELP at any time for the maker’s brand name, a link back to this policy, and our support contact (admin@themakerwell.com). Standard keyword variants (STOP, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT; HELP, INFO; START, UNSTOP, YES) are honored on every maker number.

Age. Our SMS program is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect SMS opt-ins from anyone under 18, and we will remove any such subscription on request.

SMS opt-in data is not sold and not shared with third parties for their own marketing. Phone numbers, opt-in status, and consent metadata are used only by the maker the shopper subscribed to (and The Makerwell’s service providers acting on the maker’s behalf) to send the messages the shopper signed up for. We do not share SMS opt-in data with third parties or affiliates for their marketing purposes.

Carriers handle delivery. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Who Sees It

Your public profile (brand name, bio, photos, category, social links) is visible to anyone with your profile URL. Your customer data, contact details, and booth preferences are private to you. Market organizers who accept your application can see your application details but not your customer list. No other maker can see your data. Our infrastructure uses row-level security to enforce this at the database level, not just in application code.

Data Retention

We keep your data as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we permanently remove all your data within 30 days. Anonymized, aggregated data (e.g., total platform sign-ups) may be retained indefinitely for analytics. Backups are encrypted and automatically purged after 90 days.

One exception — SMS consent records. Records of SMS opt-in and opt-out (including the phone number, timestamp, source, and the exact disclosure text shown at sign-up) are retained for up to four years, even after account or data deletion, because we may need them to demonstrate compliance with telemarketing and consumer-protection laws. These records are not used for any other purpose.

Cookies & Tracking

We use essential cookies to keep you logged in. We do not use third-party advertising trackers. We may use a privacy-respecting analytics tool to understand how makers use the platform. We will never sell your browsing data or install tracking pixels from ad networks.

Your Rights

You can access, update, or delete your data at any time from your dashboard or by contacting us. If you are in a jurisdiction with specific data protection laws (such as GDPR or CCPA/CPRA), we will honor your rights under those laws to the extent they apply to us. To exercise a right, email us at the address below and we will respond within the timeframe those laws require.
